Aila Karpio, CMM, President
Aila Karpio is the Founder and President of Spets Association Management Ltd. In addition to her degree from SFU, Aila has a Certificate in Meeting Management (CMM). Prior to founding Spets in 1996, she worked in the travel & tourism industry. Her experience on many different non-profit organizations’ boards over the years made Aila an expert on association management issues. Aila is always excited to learn and apply new technology and ideas. She is very strong in building bridges between people and groups. Her excellent sense of connection is ideal to support boards of directors and to mentor staff and student interns. Clients also benefit from her ability to see patterns and identify ways to increase effectiveness in organizations.
Aila Karpio is Executive Director of Point Grey Village BIA. She is also Honorary Vice Consul for Finland in BC and Yukon.
Patricia Tait, Account Manager
Patricia Tait is Account Manager at Spets Association Management Ltd. She worked in the tourism and hospitality industry before transferring to association management. After working with associations for nearly 10 years, Patricia has gained a thorough knowledge of how non-profits function. Her specialty lies in meeting and event management.
Patricia has excellent organizational skills; she is able to analyze problematic situations quickly, offer appropriate solutions and implement them in a systematic way.
She also has the ability to see each individual’s unique strengths and how they can contribute to the success of their association.
Patricia is a member of Meeting Professionals International (MPI) and of the German Canadian Business Association (GCBA). She is on the board of the Vancouver Westside German School and is involved in the management of her children’s sports teams.
Patricia Tait is Administrator of MPI British Columbia Chapter and Event Planner of Risk Management Association Vancouver Chapter.
Barbara Holmes, Bookkeeper
Barbara Holmes has worked over 10 years as a bookkeeper for a variety of small businesses and associations.Prior to that, she had a 35-year career at the Royal Bank of Canada. At RBC, she held a number different positions mostly working within the Business Client sector.
One of Barbara’s strengths is to help clients set up internal record keeping systems that enable them to maintain efficiency and transparency in their business financial transactions. She is experienced in both QuickBooks and Simply Accounting.
Jaskamal Singh, Marketing Coordinator
Jaskamal Singh is a part-time Marketing Coordinator at Spets Association Management on a co-op term for eight months. She is in her fourth year at Langara College studying for a BBA in Marketing Management. Jaskamal has been working with the company since September 2017 and manages the social media accounts, marketing campaigns and the website for one of the company’s clients.
