Aila Karpio, CMM, President, Spets Association Management Ltd.
Clients benefit from Aila’s unique set of skills and broad experience. She is familiar with the corporate world as well as not-for-profit organizations. Aila Karpio worked many years in the travel and tourism industries, both in her native Finland and Canada, until she started her own company in 1996 in Vancouver.
Aila is a natural organizer who can quickly streamline and update a not-for-profit association’s operations. She is an expert team builder, whether building a board of directors or recruiting volunteers for an event. Due to her personal values, Aila is an advocate of the triple bottom line: people, planet, profits.
Aila is a member of Langara College Co-op Advisory Committee and she is on the board of directors at Canadian Memorial United Church and Centre for Peace.
Aila sat seven years on the MPI (Meeting Professional International) BC Chapter board and is a past president.
She has a Bachelor of General Studies from Simon Fraser University and received her Certificate in Meeting Management (CMM) in 2012. Aila is also a graduate of the FWE (Forum of Women Entrepreneurs) E-Series program.
Aila Karpio is the Honorary Vice Consul for Finland in BC.
Patricia Tait, Account Manager, Spets Association Management Ltd.
Patricia Tait studied tourism in her native Germany. This led her to Vancouver and to four years in the tourism and hospitality industry while she worked at Vancouver’s top-rated hotels. In 2008, Patricia moved to the association management industry.
Patricia is experienced in planning and executing meetings, conferences and special events. Her past work includes professional development courses and examinations, fundraisers and golf tournaments. She is highly organized and committed to accomplishing everything she takes on.
In her role as Account Manager at Spets Association Management, Patricia manages not-for-profit client accounts. In addition to meeting and event management, she is responsible for their membership and database management. Patricia is proficient in social media marketing, website maintenance, as well as sponsorship issues. Her outgoing and honest personality make it easy and fun to work with her. Her expertise in non-for-profit association management led Patricia to joining the Board of the Vancouver Westside German School, where her children develop and deepen their German language skills.
Patricia firmly believes that passion is the basis for success. She is excited to be able to help association clients succeed in reaching their goals and visions – because their visions are now also her passion.
